Career Highlights |
I have worked in substance abuse TX for 28 years. Twenty-one of those years have been at Sacred Heart Memphis. Other TX experiences include seven years working in adolescent and adult psychiatric care. My graduate degree is in Addictions Counseling. The focus of my approach to TX is based on Motivational Interviewing, CBT and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I am accomplished in a wide variety of stress reduction and mindfulness encouraging strategies, including yoga, which I regularly integrate into my work with clients. I practice mindfulness meditation and encourage clients to adopt meditation practices as a part of their after care plan. I do not believe that clients are only viable when they are motivated to change. I enjoy working with clients who are resistant to the world’s interpretation of their problems. My life experience has provided me with contact with a great many different kinds of people from different cultural and religious backgrounds. In order to better serve the people I sit with, I have become a student of religion and culture and enjoy entering into the metaphorical world of the client. I am interested in a part time outpatient position. |
