Creating spaces and indents
A. Spacebar to move text over or create spaces
1. Click with mouse anywhere in text to place cursor.
2. Press spacebar.

B. Enter key to add space between lines and return to left of page
1. Click on left of any line (or hit Home key).
2. Press enter key once.
3. Click on right of any line (or hit End key).
4. Press enter key twice.
5. Repeat.
C. Tab key to tab over a pre-chosen number of spaces
1. Press home key.
2. Press tab key several times.
3. Repeat in a new spot on page.
4. Adjusting tabs using ruler at top of page
a. Click on ruler and a small “L” shape will appear designating a new tab.
b. Put mouse over “L,” press mouse button and drag “L” off ruler
c. Click on ruler to create new tab unit
d. Put mouse over new “L,” press mouse button, drag to the right and release

A. How to undo previous moves
1. Click on Edit on menu bar
2. Click on Undo.
3. Repeat.
B. Inserting type
1. Click anywhere in material.
2. Press insert key.
3. Type.
4. Press insert key.
5. Type

(Note: If keyboard is in insert mode, everything to the right of the cursor will move farther to the right and you will be able to insert the letters or words you are typing in the middle of the line. If keyboard is in type-over mode, whatever you type will be placed right over whatever is to the right of the cursor. The old letters will be replaced by the new ones.)
C. Deleting material one space or letter at a time
1. Put cursor anywhere in material.
2. Hold down Backspace key to remove data to left of cursor.
3. Hold down Delete key to remove data to right of cursor.
4. Repeat.

(Note: “Select to effect”—In order to make anything happen to a piece of text, you must first select it.)
A. Using Arrow keys
1. Click on a spot.
2. Press Shift key and hold it down.
3. Press right Arrow key repeatedly to enlarge selection to right.
4. Click on a new spot.
5. Release mouse button.
6. Press Shift key and hold it down.
7. Press left Arrow key repeatedly to enlarge selection to left.
8. Release mouse button.
9. Repeat.
B. Using Mouse

3. Click anywhere on page to deselect.

A. Deleting a block of text
1. Using delete key
a. Select text.

b. Click on Cut tool on toolbar under menu bar (looks like little scissors)
B. Moving a block of text
1. Using menu bar
a. Select text.
b. Click Edit on menu bar.
c. Click Copy.
d. Place cursor in new spot on page.
e. Click Edit on menu bar.
f. Click Paste.
2. Using toolbar
a. Select text.
b. Click Copy icon on toolbar (looks like two sheets of paper).
c. Place cursor in new place.
d. Click Clipboard icon to paste text.
4. Drag and drop method
a. Select text.
b. Hold mouse button down over it and drag to new spot
c. Repeat.
C. Formatting text using menu bar
1. Select text.
a. Click Format on menu bar.
b. Click Font.
c. In dialog box that comes up, choose a font, style, size and color.
d. Click OK.
D. Formatting a whole page
1. Click Edit on menu bar.
2. Click Select all.
3. Click drop down arrow next to the font box and choose a new font.
4. Click drop down arrow next to the font size box and choose a new size.
5. Click B to bold text.
6. Click I to create italics.
7. Click U to underline text.
8. Click drop down arrow next to the letter with a line of color under it to choose new color.
E. Other toolbar functions
1. Place cursor anywhere in text.
2. Click Left button on toolbar (series of lines describing left aligned text).
3. Click Center button on toolbar (series of lines describing centered text)
4. Click Right button on toolbar (next to Center button).
5. Click Justify button on toolbar (next to Right button).
6. Repeat.
